Why We Follow the Alberta Dental Fee Guide?

It’s Easy to Understand

We adhere to the Alberta Dental Fee Guide because it enables us to offer services at a widely accepted rate. This minimizes confusion when we need to direct bill your insurance and helps avoid unexpected discrepancies. It's worth noting that not all dental clinics follow this fee guide for every treatment.

We Provide Quality Care

We are able to offer high-quality care in a professional environment with mutually agreed-upon fee rates set in accordance with the Alberta Dental Association. We don't adhere to lower fee guides because we believe in transparency regarding the costs of dental treatment. Our goal is not to entice you to come to our office, but rather to provide clear information about the expenses associated with dental care.

We believe it is Fair

We believe that the Alberta Dental Fee Guide represents a fair cost for dental services. This enables our patients to focus on their necessary treatment rather than negotiating with their health benefit provider.

Does Your Current Dentist Follow It?

There's no better way to find out than to ask. Inquire if they adhere to it for all the services they provide. Some clinics might offer fee guide rates only for specific services, while others may apply it solely to basic services like cleanings and check-ups. At our clinic, we follow the fee guide for all services, including root canals, crowns, bridges, night guards, dentures, and other major treatments.

Why Harvest Dental Care?

Harvest Dental Care follows the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, but it's about more than just treatment costs. We emphasize our quality, compassionate, and conservative approach to dental care. We take pride in using high-quality materials and treatments. Feel free to ask us about the materials we use for fillings, crowns, bridges or dental implants.

Our Calgary Dentists and Cochrane Dentists understand that dental treatment may not be the most exciting activity. However, you deserve treatment in a modern, relaxing, and comfortable clinic with skilled dental professionals. We prioritize helping you understand your dental condition and explore your options for preventative and cosmetic dentistry. We provide transparency regarding dental fees and can bill your dental insurance plan directly. Our Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Clinical Team, and Reception Desk Team collaborate to offer the care you need.

No frills, no gimmicks—just straightforward preventative, restorative, and cosmetic dental treatment.

Dental Insurance and Alberta Dental Fee Guide

  • Checking Coverage

We can check with your Dental insurance to see if treatment procedures are covered. While most insurance companies follow the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, not all dental procedures may be covered within a plan.

It’s better to know coverage before we start. We can send a request electronically and receive an immediate response for basic services like check-ups, cleanings, and fillings. In exceptional cases, we may need to contact the provider by phone or send a letter request.

  • Major Treatments

Major treatments, such as orthodontics (teeth alignment), crowns, bridges, dental implants, and dentures, we may need to submit a letter along with X-rays for review by your dental insurance provider.

Rest assured, we handle this process on your behalf, but please note that it may take a few weeks to receive a response and the reply may be sent onto your online account or by postal mail.

  • Pre-Determination Replies

Electronic (EDI) - Most insurance providers can offer an immediate reply while you are in the clinic. This option is typically available for basic treatments and some major treatments.

Postal Mail - Unfortunately, some insurance providers still use traditional postal mail to send a letter indicating coverage. It may be addressed to our clinic or your home address at times.

Online Account - If you have an online account with your insurance provider, they may send information in response through this platform.

Important Questions for Dental Insurance Providers

  • Benefit Amount?

This represents the dollar amount that the insurance provider will cover within the coverage period, typically spanning a year. It's also commonly referred to as the Annual Maximum Dollar Limit.

This limit typically falls within the range of $1,000 to $3,000 per year. In some cases, there may be distinct maximums for teeth alignment (orthodontic treatment) and major procedures (such as crowns and bridges).

  • Benefit Rollover Date?

This is the date when the benefit amount is replenished for the dental plan. Typically, this falls on December 31st, though it may vary among different insurance providers.

This information, combined with the benefit amount, will help us develop a treatment plan to optimize the use of your dental benefits.

  • Which Fee Guide?

While most dental insurance benefit providers typically adhere to the most current Alberta Dental Fee Guide published by the Alberta Dental Association, it's advisable to verify that they indeed do so.

Certain insurance plans may deviate from this fee guide, making it important to identify any such differences at an early stage.
